Computer Aided Drafting and Design Technology
The Engineering, Design, and Construction Management Technology Department’s Computer Aided Drafting & Design Technology program offers awards in the tracks of Computer Aided Drafting and Design and in Computer Aided Drafting and Design with a Concentration in Architectural Technology. The awards offered in these tracks are an Associate in Applied Science degree as well as a Level I certificate, and respective Occupational Skills Awards. The degrees prepare students to utilize computer graphics equipment and hand drafting tools to produce drawings and solve problems in mechanical, electronic, structural, civil, piping, and architectural drafting. Students learn principles of computer-aided drafting on various types of industry-quality graphics systems and basic principles of design as applied to several construction types, architecture, civil engineering, geographical information systems, drone technology, and other areas. The Computer Aided Drafting and Design Technology program includes courses utilizing CAD software such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture, Civil-3D, Revit, Inventor, and web-based apps such as On shape and Sketchup For Web. The structure of the curriculum is designed to provide exit points for students desiring immediate entry into the workforce. The CADD certificates consists of 24 hours. The Occupational Skills awards range between 9 and 12 hours in various concentrated fields of study. The Computer Aided Drafting and Design Technology Degree is a terminal degree.
