Dual Enrollment and Dual Credit
Dual Enrollment and Dual Credit programs allow students the opportunity to enroll and receive credit for college courses while the student is still in high school and/or completing the requirements for high school graduation.
Dual Enrollment (formerly Early Enrolled) students may enroll at the college for college credit only. Students are not sponsored or supported by their high school and are responsible for registering for courses and all applicable tuition and fees.
The student must meet the following guidelines:
- Submit a Dual Enrollment Authorization Form.
- Submit an official high school transcript.
- Submit Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA) test scores for all areas.
Note: For home-schooled students, an official home-school transcript signed by the parent or high school principal designee must be submitted.
Dual Credit students enroll at the college in college credit courses for high school credit and college credit through the sponsorship and support of their high school. The high school or school district is responsible for adding the student to a class roster and the student's tuition and fees.
The student must meet the following guidelines:
- Meet eligibility and guidelines established by the student's high school.
- Submit an official high school transcript.
- Submit Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA) test scores for all areas and/or demonstrate exemption under the provisions of the Texas Success Initiative.
Laredo College's partnership with various school districts and independent schools offers high school students the opportunity to earn college credits before graduating. These courses are aligned with both Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and college-level competencies, ensuring they meet the academic standards required at both the high school and college levels.
