Refund Policy
Refunds of Tuition and Fees
Students who officially withdraw from Laredo College by dropping all courses may be eligible for a refund of tuition and fees in accordance with Texas Education Code and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board requirements.
Refund eligibility is determined by the date of official withdrawal and the length of the academic term in which the course is offered. Refunds are based on the official withdrawal date, not on non-attendance. Students are responsible for ensuring that an official withdrawal is properly submitted and processed.
A non-refundable matriculation fee is assessed when a student withdraws from all courses. The matriculation fee amount is established by the Laredo College Board of Trustees and is published in the College’s tuition and fee schedules.
Students receiving financial aid may be subject to federal Return of Title IV Funds requirements. Tuition and fees paid directly to the institution by a sponsor, donor, or scholarship will be refunded to the original source. Withdrawal from the College does not cancel any outstanding financial obligation, and unpaid balances remain due.
Refund Schedules
Laredo College offers instruction in multiple term formats, including standard and non-standard terms. Refund schedules are established in accordance with state law and are based on the length of the academic term and the official withdrawal date.
For refund purposes, class days are counted beginning with the first official day of the term, as published in the College instructional calendar, regardless of a student’s individual course meeting schedule or registration date.
Term-specific refund schedules and applicable census dates are published separately by the College.
Reductions in Course Load
Students who reduce their course load but remain enrolled are subject to the refund schedule applicable to the term length of the course or courses from which they withdraw.
Separate refund schedules may apply to optional fees.
Courses with Non-Standard Start or End Dates
Courses offered in formats with non-standard start or end dates, including flexible entry courses, follow refund schedules based on the length of the course and the date of official withdrawal, as published by the College.
Continuing Education and Community Service Programs
Refunds for Continuing Education and Community Service programs are governed by separate refund policies and schedules.
Students Called to Active Military Service
Students called to active military service during a term may, at the student’s option, receive a refund of tuition and fees paid for the term, be granted an incomplete grade in accordance with College policy, or receive a final grade or credit as determined by the instructor if a substantial portion of coursework has been satisfactorily completed.
