TRIO Student Support Services

TRiO Student Support Services Program (SSS), funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, has been at Laredo College since 1973. The SSS Program at Laredo College focuses on helping students overcome socioeconomic, academic, and cultural barriers to higher education in order to increase college retention and graduation rates of its participants.

TRiO SSS is dedicated to increasing the retention and graduation rates for low-income, first-generation, and/or students with documented disabilities. Services include, but are not limited to peer tutoring, professional tutoring, supplemental instruction and on-line tutoring. Other services available are academic advising, financial aid guidance, study skills and financial literacy workshops.

Participants must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident. Not eligible are holders of student visas (F1, F2, J1, and J-2 Visas). Students are eligible to participate in Student Support Services if they are currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment at Laredo College. Students must be low-income, first-generation, and/or individuals with disabilities. Students must also demonstrate a need for academic support.

Students who meet eligibility requirements for the program qualify to submit an application for the Student Support Services Grant Aid Scholarship that is awarded each academic year.
