A team of Academic and Career Advisors coordinates advising services at both Laredo College campuses. The Advising Center is located in the Lerma Peña Building, Room 201, at the Fort McIntosh Campus, and in the Billy Hall Student Center, Room A131, at the South Campus.

Advising and Transfer Services

The Advising Center offers academic advising and transfer preparation services to current and prospective students. These services are designed to support informed decision-making, timely degree completion, and successful transfer planning.

Advisors assist students in understanding state and institutional academic policies, placement requirements, and academic standing, and provide guidance on appropriate course placement and academic pathways. Advising services include assistance with selecting, declaring, or changing a program of study or major; reviewing degree and certificate requirements; developing academic plans; sequencing coursework; and verifying course prerequisites.

Advisors also support students with course selection and registration guidance, understanding grade point average calculation and academic progress, and identifying and addressing registration-related issues. As part of comprehensive student support, the Advising Center may assist students with required academic documentation related to financial aid appeals, connect students with campus resources and support services, and explain transfer requirements and processes.

In addition, advisors conduct graduation readiness reviews, explain graduation procedures and deadlines, and facilitate connections with university partners, as available.

Advising services are offered in multiple formats, including in-person and telephone advising. Availability of services and delivery formats may vary by campus and academic term.
