An exploration of guidance strategies for promoting prosocial behaviors with individual and groups of children. Emphasis on positive guidance principles and techniques, family involvement and cultural influences. Spring only.
Prerequisite: Capstone course to be taken during freshman year second semester and CDEC1454/TECA 1354. Corequisite: Course must be taken concurrently with CDEC 2187.

An in-depth study of the skills and techniques in managing early care and education programs, including legal and ethical issues, personnel management, team building, leadership, conflict resolution, stress management, advocacy, professionalism, fiscal analysis, technical applications in programs and planning parent education/partnerships. A continuation of the study of the requirements for the Child Development Associate Credential (CDA). The six functional areas of study include safe, healthy, learning environment, self, social and guidance.
Prerequisite: Must be a teacher or a teacher aide/assistant employed in an approved Child Care Center.
